When does a gravel driveway need repair?
A driveway usually needs more than another thin layer of gravel when water is collecting on the surface, stone is washing into the yard, potholes return after every storm, or deep tire ruts make the drive difficult to use. These problems often begin with the driveway shape, drainage, or base—not simply a lack of gravel.

1. Site and drainage review

4. Add and compact gravel

Regrade the driveway or add more gravel?
The right answer depends on the condition of the existing stone and base. A driveway with enough usable gravel may improve significantly through reshaping and compaction.
